The cuisine of Guadeloupe resembles that of other French Caribbean islands, and blends the sophistication of French cuisine with local ingredients and African flaire. Seafood is particularly valued in the island, but I didn't make any as I'm not a big fan myself. Home baked goods are also priced and sold by home bakers at markets.
In all, I had a pretty successful culinary trip to Guadaloupe. This is what I made:
- Colombo de poulet
Chicken Colombo- Bifteck à la Créole
Creole-style Steak- Banana Upside-Down Cake
Delicious, but really Guadaloupean?- Punch Planteur
Planter's Punch
