Update: This restaurant has closed. The best thing that can be said about Silver Garden Restaurant, a Chinese joint across from Bayfair Mall in San Leandro, is that it delivers. Delivery options are extremely limited in this city, so any restaurant that delivers deserves a star just for that. Silver Garden certainly doesn't deserve it for the food. We ordered beef chow mein, sesame chicken and orange chicken. Not particularly adventurous choices, but we're not adventurous Chinese food eaters. The food was edible and not offensive, but still not something you look forward to eating. It was food and nothing more. The chow mein, made with thick noodles, and not too many vegetables or bean sprouts (a plus for me) was a bit tasteless. The sesame chicken and the orange chicken looked and tasted quite alike - they both consisted of sticky heavily battered pieces of chicken (well, I presume there was chicken inside the batter but I'm not quite sure). The sesame chicken was less sweet than the orange chicken, but neither were particularly flavorful. I probably wouldn't order them again.
