Stay: July, 2007
My friend Lola and I really liked this hotel. It was very relaxing staying here. We enjoyed the simple lines of the room, and the friendliness of the owners and manager. I am planning on staying there again soon.
How I chose the hotel
We decided to stay in Guerneville for the night, so we started calling the local inns. Here they had accommodations at the right price. Once we checked it out, we decided to stay there.
They have a choice of rooms at the West Sonoma Inn. Older rooms have a view of the river, but are definitely not as nice. The one we checked out had a funky smell. We stayed in one of the newer rooms with two queen size beds with very comfortable mattresses and down comforters. The room had a TV with cable, a fireplace (useless in May) and a bathroom with a shower only.
The shampoo, conditioner and body wash smelled wonderfully, and that contributed to the feeling of relaxation that we had during our stay.
Grounds and Facilities
The inn is pretty simple. Most of the rooms open up to a parking lot, and the swimming pool is situated in the midst of it. The reception is in a very large, very nicely appointed room where you can hang out if you want.
There are massage services available, but we didn't partake of them.
The manager is extremely helpful in planning out wine tasting routes and he might even give you coupons for local wineries.
The West Sonoma Inn was bought about a year ago by a former Silicon Valley couple looking for something different. They are renovating it, and soon all the rooms should be as nice as the ones we stayed in. The friendliness of the owners and manager really made our stay, but we really liked our room too.
