Catalonia has a reputation as having good food - indeed, one of the best restaurant in the world, El Bulli, resides in its mountains - but it also has one of the least known cuisines in the world. While there are a few Spanish restaurants here and there (many less than the quality of the whole Spanish cuisine merits) - those that specialize in Catalan cuisine are few and far between. Indeed, I've never been to one. And also, indeed, I had never had Catalan food before this short incursion into the cuisine.

I took all the recipes I cooked from the book Williams Sonoma Barcelona: Authentic Recipes Celebrating the Foods of the World simply because the recipes I found there sounded really good. They weren't necessarily the most ancient and traditional ones, but they were firmly grounded in Catalan cuisine. The entrees, at least, were also delicious. My menu consisted of:
