Ginger Cake

Ginger Cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. ground ginger
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • a pinch of salt
  • 7 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk


Preheat oven to 325F. Grease a loaf pan or an 8"x8" oven-safe pan.

With an electric mixer or by hand, mix all ingredients together until well blended.

Pour into the prepared pan and smooth with the back of a spoon or your hands.

Place in the oven and bake. It should take about 30 minutes for the 8x8 pan and 45 minutes for the loaf pan, but start checking after 1/2 hour. The gingerbread is done when you insert a tester and it comes out dry.
