Kazakh cuisine is the cuisine of the steppe, sharing many of the nations who inhabited the Eurasian steppe for millennia. It's based on four meats - lamb, horse, camel and beef - and the diary products they provide. They have borrowed from their settled neighbors, however, and pastas and herbs have also entered their diet.
I made Kazakhstan's national dish, beshabarmak, which was surprisingly delicious. I explored other dishes common to the Kazakhs when I made Kyrgyz cuisine, and will explore even more when (and if!) I touch on the cuisines of other steppe people.
