Oscar Mayer Natural Smoked Uncured Bacon

bacon.gifWe bought this bacon because we liked the idea that it doesn’t have any nitrates or nitrites added (not that I know the difference between the two). I don’t think consuming these substances is good for children. As a “healthier” (very much in quotation marks) bacon, I was afraid it wouldn’t be as good. Boy, was I wrong. It’s simply delicious. It has a great smoky flavor that doesn’t taste fake, and it’s deep and satisfying. It’s a bit too salty for me, however, though that is often true of bacon. In any case, I’ll buy it again – specially if it’s on sale at buy-1-get-1-free like it was last time.

I would like to agree with marga on the Oscar Mayer natural Bacon. It taste wonderful and I who am sensitive to salt did not find it salty. The flavor was superior to any bacon I have ever cooked. I suppose one reason is because I cook with a convection Nu Wave Infrared Oven and I elevate the bacon on a wire rack so the grease blows off the bacon. I would also recommend the Oscar Mayer natural hot dogs, no nitrites and they taste excellent as well. It is nice to see companies striving to make safer food products that still taste good.

I love this bacon. Not only that but because I am on a renal diet for the past year, bacon was a no no. My dietician told me this would be ok to eat. This bacon is very good. Very tasty and to me it was nto salty at all. Thank you so much for making a bacon I can now eat (in moderation od course)

    Hi Marga,
I agree with you on it being a bit too salty, but as you rightly said that’s true to most bacon. I haven’t tried this yet for the simple reason that I buy fresh bacon and smoke it myself using the Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse.
I’ve had impressive, healthier results with this unit and I would highly suggest it to anyone wanting a healthier alternative to packaged meats.
Let me know what you think 🙂
    Regards,
    Ivan.
