Omelette Express – Windsor

I have one restaurant left to review from my trip to Sonoma & the Lake Country, and that is Omelette Express, a breakfast and lunch joint in Windsor. We had breakfast there last week, when visiting the area.
I only had a bagel with cream cheese and a mocha, so I can’t really say much personally about the food. The bagel ($2.50) was a little bit too soft, but otherwise fine. The mocha ($3.50 or so) was pretty nice, but not stellar.
Mike had ham, onion, bell pepper and cheese omelet ($11), which he thought wasn’t very good. It came with potatoes that were under-salted and sort of soggy, they left much to be desired.
Service was friendly and efficient.
In all, I wouldn’t go back not just because of the mediocre omelet, but because they don’t offer the sort of things I like for breakfast (pancakes, waffles, etc.), and because they seem quite overpriced. However, if you do go, pick p one of the paper take-out menus they have around. When we went, they had coupons for $3 OFF breakfast and lunch.

Your comments about Omelette Express are hyper critical, unfounded and very disappointing. These two restaurants (Windsor and Santa Rosa) have the widest variety of omelette combinations that I have ever encountered plus sandwiches, salads and other fare — and I travel extensively. The portions are large — usually more than enough for two meals. The corned beef hash is delectable and home made. When your order includes sausages, you get three or four, not just one or two. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty. If this restaurant was as bad as you imply, why are there lines outside waiting to get in? Why are all the tables full? Why are 90 percent of their clientle repeat customers (even though there is another breakfast restaurant doing less business just two blocks away). The wait staff is friendly and service is fast and efficient. French toast is on the menu. But if you want your pancakes and waffles, I suggest going to IHOP where the overall quality is no where near as good as at Omelette Express. How can you write an authoritative review when you just order a bagel at an omelette house? You should be ashamed! And the prices are not high. Have you had breakfast at Adelle’s lately, or any hotel dining room in Sonoma County? With a regular coupon discount of $3 off, the price you pay is comparable to most other breakfasts in the area. Do your homework!
