Chuck E. Cheese

Saturday we took Mika to Chuck E. Cheese in Hayward. We’d been there before but this is the first time we actually ate there (that’s the great thing about Chuck E. Cheese, they don’t make you eat to play and the tokens for the paid games are pretty cheap – about 20 cents each). I was surprised that the food wasn’t bad. We got a pepperoni and sausage pizza and we both liked it, the crust was in the thin side and somewhat sweet. It didn’t have much cheese, and what it had had toasted, which wasn’t bad. The toppings were good.
We also had their apple dessert pizza ($3), which was supposed to have a streudel dough but it actually felt pretty bready (like pizza). The apple topping was very sweet but good. I liked it.
We hadn’t brought any coupons so it was expensive, but you can often get coupons in the Sunday newspaper or at their website

It is such a tragedy that these places of filth are not regulated like schools, daycare centers or even hospitals. I guess I am a little different I enjoyed my NBC training in the military, but were did it get me at CEC?In bad shape employess not even allowed to ware gloves, just read below:
I took a job as a Tech. Manager at Chuckie E. Cheeses, hoping for a nice quite job, what the hell happened? With in the first weeks of this job, I got the flu, momo, and a server staph infection. The workers comp lady came to see me in the hospital and ask me very personal questions, like what I did I do in the military and was I sexual active, and how old was my son?
I did some checking and these restaurants have been sighted for many, many health violations. I did not have ax to grind with the Chuck but when the GM came in and said to a cast member who had acne bad, you need to shave! I went off! The GM told me that nice guys finish last, and this is a place to take the kids?
Go ahead violate the I-9 forms, while the real Americans stand in line at the employment office.
I use to take my son to the chuck and cut him loose, now, Oh no; we will go to the park, fly a kit before I take him the cesspool of bacteria/virus at the Chuckie

I’m not sure what Chuck E. Cheese you worked at but ours is much different ( CEC 413, Covina,CA). I’ll be the first to admit that CEC is not held clean to the standards of a day care center, or even a hospital. But we do keep the enviroment as clean as possible. Every night the person who closes the gameroom area, (there are typically 2 per night) is responsible for sweeping the floorsand then vaccuuming them, wiping down and sanatizing the games, refilling all the shakers and wiping done the tables (we use a cleaning solution similar to windex.) The cash area which is responsible for the salad bar (I would never recommend anyone eat from) wraps up the crocks and disposes of the ice is required to use gloves, as is the person responsible for cleaning the restrooms. The Sky Tubes also are cleaned at the very least once a week ( I know ‘cuz I have to do it) with a heavy duty cleanser after hours, and a window cleaner before we open. The people that serve the food wash their hands before they serve the food and are trained to hold the food so they do not touch the food.
I do know that they are many people that work at CEC just to make a few bucks. I however plan on being there for a while and do my best to make it a great enviroment for every one there. When I am at Kid Check I make damn sure I check every one’s hands or orally confirm from the child that they are infact leaving with the person that they came in with. I can’t understand how parents can be so lax with their kids that they blame us when they can’t find them. In a typical night we are forced to make at least 3 announcements for lost kids (ones that can’t find their parents or guardians) It also boggles we how angry parents can get when we ask them to participate in KidCheck just because we wont’ let their 7 year old kid run out to the car at 7:30 pm, or that we won’t let their 16 year old’s friends in with out an adult… Thanks so much for letting me vent all this out.

Chuck E. Cheese’s is the best place ever to work. I’m sorry that you had one bad encounter as a manager. But it’s not our fault that you don’t want to put the effort into making it clean. I know for sure that our store is ALWAYS clean and we have never had a complaint about it not being just that. In fact, our store has had 4 comments already this year about the service and cleanliness. I don’t know which one you worked at, but they are not all like that.

    To the first commentor:
It is such a tragedy that morons like yourself set out to ruin the reputation of surprisingly decent restaurants like CEC. Let’s break it down.
“With in the first weeks of this job, I got the flu, momo (sic), and a staph infection.”

You work at a place teeming with children. Children are the most common carriers of ALL three of those. Connection? Additionally, staph is spread through skin-to-skin contact. Emphasis on proper handwashing technique can prevent staph infections roughly 3/4 of the time. Mono, however, is only spread via saliva and has an incubation period of 3 weeks at a minimum. It is your responsibility to make sure you’re not sharing drinking cups, gum, food, cigarettes or anything else that comes in contact with another person’s saliva, not your employers’s.
“When the GM came in and said to a cast member who had acne bad, you need to shave!”

Uhhh, duh. The reason for this? Acne does not fall into food. Hairs from beards do. Use a twinge of common sense, this is common policy at any and all places that serve food.
“Chuckie E. Cheeses does not use equipment to keep their establishment clean, if you will notice many places like DQ or some BK use Ultraviolet lights. It seems the managers at Chuckie don’t know what these lights do, they kill bacteria and some virus.”

First, I know for a fact that neither Dairy Queen nor Burger King uses ultraviolet lights for any purpose (I used to work at the former, now I work at the latter). Why? Because it would be pointless. I have no idea where you got the notion that UV lights kill bacteria/some viruses. You have been severely misinformed.
“The workers are not even alowed (sic) to ware (sic) gloves or other personal protective equipment.”

At Burger King the only time we wear gloves is when we’re prepping and stocking, or when we are deep cleaning. On the line (making sandwiches) we do not wear gloves. We use tongs to handle the meat and chicken, but that’s all. I wash my hands every 10-15 minutes or on task change. In an eight-hour shift I wash my hands roughly forty times. If my hands aren’t clean enough to make your food after that, then I don’t know what is. Every restaurant you eat at is like this. Someone touches your food. If you can’t handle that, buy food at the store and make it at home.
And I’m gonna ignore that last little comment about the place being a trash heap because no one can speak English, because c’mon. Look at your post. Neither can you!
