I have cooked regional Brazilian food before, but this was my first time tackling the whole country. I love Brazilian food because of its influences by Portuguese, West African and native culinary traditions. Feijoada completa is Brazil's national meal, often eaten on Sundays as a celebration. The meal includes a black bean stew and several traditional accompaniments listed below. It was absolutely superb and I would recommend it to anyone.
I served the meal with a Malbec, and they went very well together.
My feijoada completa consisted of:
- Feijoada
a black bean and sausage stew- Farofa
a dish made with toasted manioc flour- Arroz Branco
Brazilian rice- Couve refogada
Steamed Kale- Salada de tomate
Tomato salad- Orange slices
For dessert we had:
- Quindim
A coconut flan- Brigadeiro
Chocolate truffles
